Bonjour! PARDON MY FRENCH

Pardon my French is a lovely new local label designed by
Lucy Kemp and is exclusively available in Wellington at emma on Cuba Street, lucky us!
Lucy has designed a really strong first season which is attracting loads of press.
Her Young American winter '12 collection is tres chic, very feminine with smart detailing and a sprinkle of sportswear too (cool stripe knit collars & cuffs).
Hard to pick a fav but I'm loving the 9 to 5 black wool dress at the moment, you can totally channel your inner Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffanys in this gorgeous number!

NEW label for emma- SHERYL MAY

Two local lasses, Emma and Sheryl, once went to fashion school in Wellington, became great friends, travelled the world, found love, lost love, made families, danced & played whilst always coming 'home' to their shared love of clothes, fashion and sewing.
Well this season I'm really excited to say my wonderful friend and talented designer
Sheryl May is stocking her self-named fashion label at emma on Cuba Street.
Sheryl's clothing collection is beautifully made, uses amazing fabrics and flattering shapes, takes reference from vintage art in her prints and is all New Zealand made (yah!)
Sheryl is based in her hometown of Gisborne for half the year then whizzes back to London to work backstage for Burberry at Fashion Week and indulge her other love of dancing while sourcing new fabrics and inspiration- all sounds good to me:)
Her select pieces are in-store now so please pop in and take a peek at lovely Sheryl May

OKTOBERDEE BAGS - new to emma & NZ!

If you're like me you'll fall in love with these beautifully made, delicately detailed and perfectly practical bags from the Whimsy collection designed by Melbournian Lauren Ferry.
We are so lucky to be the first NZ stockist of these and just in time for putting one under the Christmas tree:)
Which one to pick? Decisions, decisions... Hannah has already nabbed a Boyscout in black and is loving it! Scrummy soft Italian leather, super cute stripe lining and lots of handy pockets inside and out- we have black as well as tan in-stock now.
Don't delay lovelies, make one your own soon.

loving them lightbulbs...

Just look, aren't they cool! These Plumen low energy lightbulbs first caught my eye on that ever-inspiring blog Fancy! just about the time I was starting to work on our new Cuba St shop, it felt like perfect timing and it was. So after a day deliberating over cord lengths and hook positions with Steve (awesome sparky) we have light! Come on in to 268 for a closer look:)
p.s. we're in good company Plumen just created an amazing light installation at London Fashion Week , jealous.

Berri clever crochet fingers!

Excuse the word play but Berri Drum is very clever with crochet and we at emma are really excited to now stock her gorgeous crochet collars.
Based in Melbourne, Berri's Hand Hook Yarn is the first non-NZ label we have stocked but thought her work was so lovely we couldn't be without it. Her views on making/ creating and manufacturing really resonate with us and think you'll agree...
'remember(s) a time when things were made with love. When we labored over tasks and enjoyed the results. Possessions were fewer and we treasured them, cared for them, and they became heirlooms.'
We hope you will love her work as much as we do (we're stocking her awesome tassel and suede neckpieces too:)

We're open on Cuba Street!

Yep, it was a hot and steamy night (well actually it was a pretty typical chilly Welly spring evening) shared by loads of lovely folk who well and truly celebrated the opening of our new shop and the release of our summer collection Vacationer.
We had sensational wine sponsored by Te Mata Estate and yummy nibbles from Martha's Pantry.
Thank you to all for welcoming us into 'town' and especially my family and friends for supporting, believing and helping me live my dream.emxx

Charming Cuba Street, emma is beguiled.

We think Cuba Street is the best street in Wellington to discover independant, individual and interesting shops so we are very very excited to be opening a new shop at #268 next week.
There's some gorgeous neighbours suchas The Powder Room, Madame Fancy Pants, Particles of Time and the wonderful Martha's Pantry just around the corner, for when you need a sustaining cuppa, or even better a cupcake, so there's plenty to make the stroll up Cuba Street well worthwhile.
We're so lucky to have found a beautiful vintage space with loads of character (it was once a butchers shop, just like our Berhampore shop) so pop on in, say hi and BRING ON SUMMER!
