New love!

Some may call me fickle but having got inspired talking to Angie about pincushions I've found a new love...hedgehogs!
You know they're cute even if spiky, handy and helpful around the home, so the PERFECT choice for my latest crafty project.
Thanks Becs at MFP for warning me not to name them, as I'd never be able to give them away, but oh dear too late.
My first  prickly pals are Herb, Holly and Harry, don't they just look fine all together, how can I ever split them up?

night owl

It's an obsession, it's owls. My love of birds has taken me from flamingoes to fantails that flap into my day and make me smile. But owls do it above all. Once you start looking you'll see them everyone, keep a daily tally and tell me. Better yet send me pictures of your favourites.
Here are some of mine...too whit too whoo. x.

We love our locals

emma has a new stockist and it's close to home!

It is perfect for summer shopping in the suburbs.

(check out the 'market-days' through summer)
Well worth a stop as you cruise the south coast.

Owls and starry nights at ANZFW

Paul Densem @ teaspoon (Island Bay based of course!) made this fantastic animated film for emma which set the mood brilliantly for the show.
Leaving the comfort of your crackling campfire enter a moody fairy-tale forest on a starry night, with the cutest owls coming along to keep you company, as you get lost with emma.

Also there's a video of the Verge Breakthrough show featuring emma on the link below:

It's almost like being there:)

MEOW...catwalk @ Fashion Week

No cameras allowed backstage at Fashion Week... but as I totally wanted you all there to share the experience I've got a few catwalk shots the lovely Owen took as sneak peek of my winter 09 collection 'lets get lost'. x.

It's Fashion time!

As my first fashion week s-day (show-day) is fast approaching I am looking forward to getting to Akld and doing it! NZFW is a well oiled machine and emma just a wee part of the patchwork.
In the Verge Breakthrough group show there are 5 new labels on show, including moi, with one of us taking away a prize of $10,000 at the end of the show.
How does that work? Well-the front two rows get to vote directly after the show is over for their fav - so fingers crossed for e-m-m-a!
I'd love you to be there and add to the clap-o-meter so drop me a line if you'd like a ticket.
I know it's hard to get away from the beautiful Wellie town but if you have a city of sails pal to represent that's sweet too.
They may even like to make a day or three of it and buy tickets for the Designer Selection show which runs straight after and features a tasty bite of the Fashion Week designers in-season and winter ranges.
Look on www.nzfashionweek.com for details under designer selection show or public events.
Got to be in:)

Mix it up

As my new season collection 'picturebook' is just about to hit the stores here's some pics of the spring styles that are up first. The pepperdot dress  (in first pic) is perfect for looking gorgeous and girly and there's a line of eco-friendly tees with  sweet picturebook prints that we'll live in everyday- once the temps rise!
Check out stockists from mid August:)
Just heard from Christine at mix it up and she's done an emma write-up on her website.
Thanks Christine-really cute site too!

Bootylicious boot camp

As part of my involvement in ANZFW I winged my way up to Auckland yesterday to attend the Verge boot camp. Great to meet the other designers in our group. The lads at Verge were very generous with their knowledge of the fashion industry and roped in some other inspiring speakers.
Now we've had the rockets lite  and we're counting down!

CCC (craft, cupcakes & crochet)

Call it what you will- craft circle, stitch 'n' bitch, grannie time- but our time has come to get together and focus on some serious, or not so serious, stitch-craft.
Tonight it's sess#2 and although  freezing outside the hardy will meet and so it will begin again.
Seeing that my tea cosy is finally finished and the twisted cord bow atop, this bow makes me happy every morning as I make my first brew for the day, I feel the need to grab a hook and go all heirloom.
Crocheted wool blankets for Bella and Ned to ward away the wintery chills when they can't afford to heat their student flats (will probably take me that long to make them!)
They will thank me one day I'm sure:)
I hope Eva will guide me on the crochet front as she's hooked into it lately, hee hee.
Debs tells me her stitchy project is coming along if slower than hoped but hey when you make cupcakes like her you don't really need to worry about anything else!
Here's a couple of shots from last session, have temporarily lost my camera so sorry can't show you my completed cosy chum, maybe next time.
Thanks Debs and Eva for letting me go all photographic on you.

It's a breakthrough

Well the good word is out, emma will be showing her winter 09 collection at Air New Zealand Fashion Week this year as part of the Verge Breakthrough Group. Yah!
This is a trade event but also has some great public events. Check it out if you are in Auckland in mid September- more on www.nzfashionweek.com
Lots of hard work before then so all hands on deck and thanks to those wonderful friends and family who support emma and have offered to help, you are my inspiration.
Before then though I'm really keen to give you a peek at emma's new summer 08/09 collection 'picturebook'.
Check out the new look fashion site www.runwayreporter.co.nz
for pics and more. I know it's pouring outside but isn't it nice just day-dreaming about those sunnier days, go on take a moment:)

Claire still has some great emma stock in her sale at Madame Fancy Pants, as well as lots of  other super cute stuff.
Now's the time to bag a bargain-think of all those chilly weeks ahead- and you know your emma gear will still look hot next year. So think investment dressing for little investment:)
Have a look at my website www.emmacollections.com for a peek at the winter range if you haven't already.

Drove down through the central North Island yesterday.

Still plenty of chilly days ahead so don't forget to check out the last of emma's winter stock instore -yep it's sale time.

emma takes to the stage

Being just the best store with the nicest people in town means I'm really lucky to stock emma at Madam Fancy Pants in Cuba Street. Recently MFP herself helped dress LA Mitchell  for her recent recording/concert at the Matterhorn, and they chose an emma  silk blouse for the big night. Each garment is like a wee baby to me and I was so proud!
If you didn't make it to the concert, no worries take a look at this:
and then check out MFP for your own slinky silk number for nights on the town.

It may be grey and chilly outside but check out this sweet little postcard which makes me smile every time I look at it. Some days I feel like that valiant little bird facing the elements on the South Coast!
Designed by the lovely Anna Stewart to accompany my latest emma collection & if you'd like one of your very own there are limited numbers available at my stockists.
So rug up and  fly there today:)
